I’ve wallowed in self-pity, then shame-spiraled for feeling sorry for myself – ashamed of not being the person I think I am to face the fire with strength and determination!
Fast forward: Pick something, one thing to accomplish.
I have a neighbor who, without a doubt, is a force of nature. Linda, you know who you are!
She has inspired me to move past the angst and empower myself and those around me.
Make a list of what I want to do each day, she told me. I sat and thought; what a simple, brilliant idea.
So as my dear friend has suggested, I’ve made a list!
- Take action, any action.
- Clean a drawer.
- Breathe.
- Exhale.
- Take a bath.
- Paint a mirror.
- Embrace gray roots, my split and ragged nails, no lashes and newfound wrinkles.
- Be grateful, so grateful.
- Remember my ancestors faced much worse, and for much longer.
- Order another jute rug. (I have a problem with jute rugs!)
Next week, The Winsome Nest will officially move into its new home. The skylights, lighting, paint, floor stripping and sign painting will all be finished. I will actually be able to arrange, tinker, putter and shoot my new inventory.
Learning to have the grace to accept what is thrown at one’s self is a lifelong journey….I’m starting to get my stride.
